PA: PA 27 Western Terminus (Meadville, PA)
« on: February 17, 2018, 03:08:18 pm »
The western terminus of PA 27 is further than the current location in Meadville.  PA 27 turns right from North Street onto Market Street and then continues onto Terrace Street.  It then turns left onto Reynolds Drive and terminates at US 6/19.  I have GMSV links below but I drove it this morning to also validate the routing.

Hm. This extension iot part of PA27 "on paper" per any of numerous PennDOT sources I've found, but it is carried on other state roads.
Which may not mean much. There are other cases in the HB where the "Keystone" route doesn't match the 4-digit SR numbers the route is carried on , such as PA372 in Buck, or PA61 south of You-Know-Where. Nothing that I know of past a route's otherwise-end though. *shrug.*

AIUI, there's not always a 1:1 correspondence between the 4-digit SR numbers and PA routes with the keystone shield. Right? (Markkos1992, did I see you say you work for PENNDOT? Any insight here?) Certainly, PA372 isn't signed on Holtwood Rd between HolRd_E and PA272.

Yep, sometimes PA (keystone) routes can have a different 'SR' number.  PA-380 is SR-0400 (because SR-0380 is used for I-380), PA-99 has SR-0699 (though used to have SR-0099) because I-99 has SR-0099.  There are also a few other examples out there.

This extension is very well signed. (Another similar case is the west end of ME196.)
rickmastfan67, whaddaya think? Add it on in?

I had already looked at this last night, and I was leaning towards adding this one.

PA 743 also has sort of a similar situation where it is posted northbound past I-81 despite officially ending at US 22. (with many "TO" banners in the area)  The difference here is that this one seems to still be very well-posted.  PA 743 is not posted at PA 443 north of the interchange and Bow Creek Rd is township-maintained anyway.
