Region/System Page Maps
« on: August 16, 2017, 11:06:40 pm »
Was the change to require the control key to be held down to zoom in/out of the maps on the region and system pages a Google change or a TM change?  I can see the logic behind it (to prevent someone who wanted to scroll the page from zooming the map), but it's quite annoying.

Interesting that those pages changed, but mapview still doesn't require ctrl+scroll.

'quite' - it's extremely annoying. Classic Google Maps change that makes things worse.

En-UK is normally the understated one passively-aggressively snarking about how bad things are. ;)

AIUI, "quite good" translates as "a little bit good", and has somewhat of a "damning with faint praise" usage to it.
How about cases where "quite" is paired with an adjective with negative connotations, such as "quite annoying?"

Either 'not really', or, "really really really". See also (the other way around) "quite brilliant" meaning really really really brilliant, rather than a little over mediocre.

It all depends on tone, a really positive one, or a really negative one, would show that quite is not to mean 'a little', otherwise it doesn't really. Unless you are dealing with someone deadpan, which is something I don't tend to associate with En-US speakers.

I think it doesn't like the embed.  The highway browser if fine too, and it uses frames, so it probably gets interpreted by Google as a full page.

Aye. Makes sense; was thinking it was along those lines.

Those pages could probably be redesigned with a full-frame map and everything else in overlays if we wanted.
